The American Gem toy sewing machine is a hard to find antique toy and is a favorite with TSM collectors.  These machines can be found marked “Gem” or “American Gem.” The cast iron base was designed to resemble a real treadle sewing machine stand. Some sources suggest that this machine was also marketed as a small working machine for seamstresses.
